DR. JUSTIN PIJPE

Dr. Justin Pijpe is a renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon and ITI Fellow who specializes in oral implantology and is registered with the Dutch Association for Oral Implantology. He completed his medical degree (2000) and dentistry degree (2005) at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, where he also conducted his PhD research on diagnosing and treating Sjögren’s syndrome.

Education and Surgical Training

After completing his training as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University Medical Center Groningen (2009), he joined the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven in 2010. His clinical expertise includes implantology, and minimally invasive salivary gland surgery.

Academic Contributions and Research

In 2024, Dr. Pijpe was appointed Assistant Professor at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. His research focuses on bone regeneration, peri-implant diseases, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMS) in dental implant surgery. He has published over 40 scientific papers and actively conducts clinical research.

Expertise in Zygomatic Implants and Advanced Rehabilitation

Dr. Pijpe also specializes in treating severe maxillary atrophy with zygomatic implants and diagnosing and managing benign salivary gland diseases. He is the only ZAGA-certified doctor in his area, and due to his expertise and proficiency in zygomatic implants, he receives referrals for patients with insufficient bone. Additionally, he shares his knowledge on the rehabilitation of atrophic mandibles through specialized courses. He has served as a board member of the Dutch Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (NVMKA) and was Chair of ITI Netherlands until 2024. Additionally, he has received multiple research grants as a principal investigator or co-investigator, including funding from ITI and ORF.
