Edentulism 2025: Global Dental Experts Reunite in Barcelona
Once again, Edentulism 2025 has demonstrated to be much more than an international dental conference— it was a celebration of the global dental community and a unique opportunity to strengthen relations, make connections, and share knowledge between fellow clinicians. This was also felt by the Certified ZAGA Centers participating and attending the event, organized by the ZAGA Centers team under the scientific leadership of Dr. Carlos Aparicio. This second edition of the Edentulism Conference brought the ZAGA philosophy to the forefront of advanced edentulous treatment on the world stage.
A Stage for Clinical Excellence and Innovation
From June 5 to 7, the stunning World Trade Center Barcelona became the epicenter of knowledge exchange, clinical innovation, and human connection. With Certified ZAGA doctors present among attendees, speakers, and moderators, Edentulism 2025 demonstrated the strength, cohesion, and clinical leadership of our global network.
At different lectures throughout the three-day event, participants from around the world had the opportunity to learn directly from world-renowned speakers, including some of the Certified ZAGA Centers, showcasing the network’s deep expertise in zygomatic and pterygoid implantology, digital workflows, and complex full-arch rehabilitation.
Esteemed ZAGA speakers and moderators included Dr. Carlos Aparicio, Prof. Chantal Malevez, Dr. Lesley David, Dr. Guy Mclellan, Prof. Cemal Ucer, Dr. Michael Pikos, Dr. Corrado Cazacu, Dr. André Sakima, Dr. Peter Ilg, Dr. Maxim Kopylov, Dr. Taras Yurov, Dr. Caesar Butura, Dr. Costa Nicolopoulos, Dr. Petros Yuvanoglu, Dr. Eduardo Nicolaievsky, and Dr. Jay Neugarten.
The event also welcomed valuable contributions from distinguished experts such as Dr. Marinelly Mendes, Dr. David Norré, Prof. Fouad Khoury, Dr. Rudi Mukherjee, Prof. Franck Renouard, Dr. Nick Egbert, Dr. Rubén Davó, and Dr. Safa Tahmasebi.
Following the gold standard set by the previous edition, this year’s line-up of speakers was once again selected based on the significance of their published scientific articles on effective and innovative edentulous treatment solutions.
Strengthening the ZAGA Centers Global Network
While all the scientific lectures and round table discussions were truly exceptional, another memorable aspect of Edentulism 2025 was undoubtedly the spirit of connection and collaboration it fostered within the ZAGA Centers Network. The event provided countless opportunities for Certified ZAGA Centers from all over the world to meet face-to-face, exchange experiences, and strengthen professional and personal relationships.
The highlight of this aspect was the exclusive Private ZAGA Centers Dinner, held on June 5th at the magical Observatory Fabra. Against the backdrop of Barcelona’s skyline, ZAGA Centers members shared an evening of celebration, friendship, and unity. The experience of observing the moon through the world’s last working analog telescope created a truly unforgettable atmosphere.
Upon arriving at the venue, Dr. Carlos Aparicio gave a welcoming speech, taking a moment to appreciate the rare occasion on which the ZAGA Centers gathered in person—to reconnect, celebrate their collaborative efforts, and reinforce their shared philosophy. This special moment was further marked by the awarding of honorary medals to Prof. Tomas Albrektsson and Prof. Chantal Malevez, in recognition of their long careers and significant contributions to the field of advanced dental implantology. Their work has always gone much further than just placing dental implants: it’s always been, as the Edentulism Conference itself, about finding the best ways to improve patients’ quality of life and confidence, about bringing back smiles around the world. As Dr. Aparicio mentioned in his speech: “This conference is our collective declaration that we can—and hence must—do better. Together, we can offer our patients something more than just implants: Dignity. Function. Aesthetics. And hope.“
This dinner perfectly embodied the values of the ZAGA Centers Network — not only clinical excellence but also a genuine sense of global community and shared mission. As Dr. Cemal Ucer remarked: “Thank you for inviting me to participate in this wonderful conference. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to network and socialize with my ZAGA colleagues, and of course, to learn from one another. Congratulations on organizing such an excellent event and for your warm hospitality during our stay in Barcelona.”
Dr. Ucer also mentioned the impact and importance of zygomatic implants and their standardization, thanking Dr. Aparicio for his lifetime’s work: “I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere congratulations to Carlos—not only for developing the ZAGA concept but also for creating the ZAGA implants. It is no exaggeration to say that Carlos’ work has truly revolutionized the field of zygomatic implants, setting a new gold standard. This advancement will undoubtedly continue to reduce complications and elevate the technique from a last-resort option to a preferred treatment for edentulism.”
Moving Forward, Stronger Than Ever

Beyond the lectures and workshops, the human connection, the trust, and the unity made this event so powerful for everyone involved. The Edentulism Conference made it clearer than ever that advanced dental implantology is a cooperative path to achieve a unique common objective: to help edentulous patients worldwide bring their smiles back, independently of their condition.
Together, we continue to advance patient care worldwide — and to cultivate the friendships and professional relationships that make our community so unique.
